What was your first job in hospitality?
I started a busser at Milton’s Pizza in Raleigh, NC in 1998. I worked there for about 4 years. It will always be my favorite pizza restaurant.
What was your last job before Whitfood?
Same job at GT!
Where did you grow up?
Raleigh, NC with most of my summers in Texas.
What’s your favorite childhood memory of food?
I didn’t like food when I was a kid. Perhaps the most exciting food moment of my childhood was when my Grandma gave me my first fluffernutter. I was six years old and I was sitting on the back stoop of her house in Brownsville, TX. It totally blew my mind. And it doubled the number of “acceptable foods” in my world.
What’s your favorite thing to cook on your days off?
Beef short ribs. I’m addicted. I need to move on….but they’re so good!
Where’s the next place you want to travel?
Thailand. I always want to be back in Thailand.
If you weren’t working in restaurants, what would you be doing?
Travelling the world, you know, if not working in restaurants also meant I suddenly had endless cash at my disposal.

Fiction! Nonfiction is so boring.
