George Washington University (undergrad).
French Culinary Institute (Now ICC)

Scooping Ice Cream when I was 14. Customers ask for the craziest things. This job may have helped push me to BOH.
Commis at Southfork Kitchen – Sustainable Seafood restaurant in Bridgehampton NY
Line Cook – Sous Chef at Café Boulud in NYC under Chef Gavin Kaysen
What was your last job before Whitfood?
Gramercy Tavern – Line Cook
Where did you grow up?
New Rochelle NY (Westchester)
What’s your favorite childhood memory of food?
My Jewish grandmother would make really awesome Italian dishes (sausage, meatballs, pasta, sauce/gravy) for monthly Sunday night dinners with the family. She grew up in a Jewish & Italian neighborhood in Brooklyn and adopted a lot of dishes from her friends. I always thought it was so cool (and interesting) that these dishes were a part of our family tradition – and they were always super delicious!
What’s your favorite thing to cook on your days off?
Ramen. I love making Ramen and other soups – adding all these ingredients at different points all adding something interesting to the final product. And on a day off there is something nice about putting in a little bit of work getting it going and then letting it simmer away for hours knowing I’ll be having something delicious to eat soon.
Where’s the next place you want to travel?
Japan. I love Japanese food and would love to explore the culinary and cultural worlds of Japan
If you weren’t working in restaurants, what would you be doing?
2. Teaching Kids to cook (my second passion)
Fiction or nonfiction?
Fiction based in nonfiction. Love learning about history.
One thing I love about cooking is that I get to “travel” through cuisines, dishes & food of other cultures. Old cookbooks are pretty fun to read too to see what life was like through food & cooking techniques - Giving measurements like “half a wineglassful”
Cats or Dogs? Chocolate or Vanilla?
Dogs. Cats are cool and self-sufficient but I’m allergic.
Vanilla. Never Dark Chocolate. Cookies and cream though. Oreos.
